2000 people probably not lost
We think everyone must have had a great time” reports KiwiRail’s Kimberley Brady, “because we brought around 10,000 into the city, but took only about 8,000 out again”.
“Some may have been returning from the Petone festival, but a lot must have had such a good time they just decided to stay. We’re very happy, and the atmosphere on the platform and around the whole place was just great”.
An eight car Matangi train was used for the first time which gave KiwiRail more capacity than normal, says Brady.
KiwiRail plans similar levels of service for this Saturday’s game between South Africa and Fiji.
