Battle of the burger
The steaks have been raised in the final round of Wellington’s battle of the burger.
Boulcott Street Bistro, Shinobi Sushi Lounge, Café Polo, Topor Bistro and Bar and Greytown’s Bar Salute will cook off for the title of Wellington’s best burger at Le Cordon Bleu on August 29. Café Polo was the inaugural Burger Winner and Bar Salute was last year’s runner-up.
The cook off is the final event in this year’s Wellington on a Plate Festival.
While festival organisers say economic analysis still has to be done, online ticket sales and restaurateur feedback indicate another successful festival this year.
“While we don’t yet have a full idea of attendance figures, we do know close to 15,000 tickets were sold to festival events online,” says festival co-director Sarah Meikle.
She says Beervana and the New Zealand Chocolate Festival have reported increased ticket sales on last year.
