Extreme screen
In a New Zealand first, Reading Cinemas on Courtenay Place has converted its largest auditorium for Titan Extreme Cinema, a state of the art movie system which, according to complex manager Erik Stevens, promises to take going to the movies to a whole new level.
“The digital projection system provides greater depth and brightness and rock steady pictures, especially for 3D movies,” Stevens says. “We’ve also upgraded the sound system with a Dolby 7.1 which has seven channels compared to the usual six, and better sound surround.”
Reading’s Courtenay Place complex has ten cinemas seating 2,300 people and screens on average 15 different movies each week. It competes with Auckland’s Event Cinema as New Zealand’s busiest cinema complex.
The Titan Extreme Cinema will open November 17 with the screening of the new Twilight film Breaking Dawn in 3D.
