Happy birthday to us
In the midst of the RWC buzz we begin another year of giving you the Best of Wellington.
Our annual Best of Wellington poll, results published last week, (a 16% increase in responses, thank you very much) highlighted all the things we know and love about this city: people, coffee, culture, harbour, weather and walks.
We smiled as Conrad Smith won best sportsman in the week he came into greater prominence in the All Black squad.
Lawyer John Miller won Best Local Wellingtonian for his humanitarian work with the less fortunate. His whole office cheered and clapped as we presented him with his certificate.
We have had some grumblings reported, well actually call that vitriolic responses, especially regarding the ethnic food categories. We are sorry about the disappointments but happy to accept our readers’ voting patterns.
Our own reader’s survey has been delayed a little this year, that RWC effect again, but to those of you who have been asking, you will have your chance to tell us about your favourite parts of what we publish on 19 October.
We like hearing from you, the good and ouch, the bad.
This week and every week we give you news, Wellyword, What’s On stories and information, Jitterati, social pics and much more.
Here’s to many more years!
Niels Reinsborg, Editor.
