A white haired woman with her back turned, a figure standing beside a river, chairs by a tree, are just three of the six photographs, taken by Emma Anderson and postered by Phantom Billstickers. They’re part of We are Immortal, a book of short stories by Jenah Shaw that accompany Anderson’s photographs.
The two met during one of Anderson’s previous photography projects, Stranger, where she did an open call for strangers to her to be photographed in their homes.
“I saw something she put on The Big Idea about it and thought why not,” says Shaw, a Victoria University student, while Anderson was at Massey. “It would make a nice change from writing my honours thesis. She came and photographed me and we hung out and had some tea.”
We are Immortal was self-published, funded with $2,000 raised through PledgeMe, and available by contacting Shaw and Anderson. Running since May 13 and changed every Sunday, this week is your last chance to spot one of the posters.
