GERMANY had Paul the octopus who accurately predicted the outcome of World Cup matches and now Wellington has Sonny Wool.
Sonny is a three year old sheep born in Dannevirke, but he is in Wellington for the next six weeks to demonstrate his psychic abilities.
Star Sheep Agent Dan Boyd told Capital Times Sonny showed early abilities as a young lamb to predict when it was going to rain.
“He would tap on the door to get inside,” Boyd says.
Boyd says Sonny has a fetish for the lights at night, an obsession with rugby balls and is an avid All Black supporter. Sonny will be using his psychic abilities to predict the outcome of All Black games in the Rugby World Cup.
“Sonny’s way of communication is via his feed with corresponding flags attached, and which ever feed he decides to eat first will be Sonny’s prediction for the corresponding game.
Sadly Sonny is blind and this is said to have helped strengthen his ability.

    Vinyl lovers take note: thousands of records are up for grabs at Wellington’s only record fair.  Collectors are invited to The Southern Cross to peruse piles from by ten different traders. Vinyl Club is a collaboration between Evil Genius, Rough Peel Music, Slow Boat Records, and Vanishing Point. Vinyl Club, The Southern Cross Bar, 12-4pm, May 26.

  • Miss a meal 23/05/2012 11:30:00 a.m.

    Food rescue group Kaibosh has been encouraging Wellingtonians to miss eating one meal during May. Kaibosh rescues food from retailers that’s good enough to eat, but not good enough to sell, and redistributes it to charities working with the disadvantaged. The group wants people to miss a meal and instead donate the money they would have spent. It hopes to raise $20,000 for a walk-in cool room.

    Wellngton's Pulse netball team has appointed two new directors as the franchise continues to strengthen both its governance and management teams. Prominent Wellington barrister Tim Castle and Land Information NZ acting chief executive Sue Gordon were appointed at the franchise’s AGM last week.

    Records are already being broken five weeks out from the Armstrong Wellington Marathon. More than 5,000 runners and walkers from nine different countries will line up at Westpac Stadium on June 24 for the marathon, half marathon, 10 kilometre and kids’ magic mile events, making it the biggest marathon event ever to be held in Wellington.
