Scorchorama -A family feed

Coffee: Havana
MURIEL (the dodgy Mercedes) now has a slippery steering wheel. “A lot of play” they say…
I refuse to give her up – she’s part of the family.
But we went out for a coffee a couple of months ago, and came back with a car. A modern sporty car.
So we took it (no name as yet) for a spin round the bays, ending up at Scorch-O-Rama. It was a Saturday, and there were family groups, friends groups, and walkers of dogs getting a takeaway fix.
It was a northerly, so a good day to sit outside across the road and admire the view. Funny how we Wellingtonians can choose an outdoor café by the way the wind is blowing. Does this happen anywhere else I wonder?
We ordered our coffees. They arrived pronto, in sunny orange cups, and were delicious. Smooth with a slight bitterness.
We both had the Babe Benedict ($17): poached eggs with ham and mushrooms. The ham came in thick tasty slices, and the eggs were yellow and runny – perfect.
Other choices included Pancakes ($15), a vegetarian option in Tofu scramble ($10), and other egg options.
There is also a kids’ menu, with treats such as toast soldiers ($3); cornflakes, coco pops or weetbix ($3), and hotcakes ($5).
I had a laugh at the bill when it arrived. Its titled “The Damage”, and ends with, “You got burned at Scorch-O-Rama”. Personally I thought the prices were pretty decent.
