McMurrayMon wins top gong
For the competition, participants were asked to create a cocktail recipe with Zumwohl schnapps as the base ingredient.
Judges described Murray’s winning cocktail “The McMurrayMon” as a‘ must try cocktail’, praising its smoothness and range of flavours.
Murray, whose favourite cocktail ‘The Japanese Slipper’ is made with Midori, Cointreau and lemon juice, is thrilled.
“I just tried to create a flavoursome, sweet and sour cocktail I felt people would drink,” she says, adding she aims to own a cocktail bar of her own.
Murray hopes the award will open doors for her in the industry and feels that her experience as a student at the Professional Bar and Restaurant School has greatly helped her along the way.

How to make your own McMurrayMon.
30 ml plum schnapps
15ml peach liqueur
15ml melon liqueur
15ml crème de cacao
5ml cinzano bitters
15ml lemon juice
All ingredients are placed into a cocktail shaker over ice, shaken and strained into a white and dark chocolate rimmed martini glass.
