Clothes bake the man
The painting contractor for Wellington company House Coating attracted the attention of giggling female pedestrians while he waterblasted a house in Mt Victoria.
Woolcott was spotted up a ladder washing the walls and eaves in a full body wetsuit with a hood.
“My theory is if you are going to get wet you may as well be warm,” says Woolcott. “When you waterblast a house wearing a raincoat water drips down the arm.”
The jovial painter says bone-chilling winds are no match for his inner city suit, which includes a battery-powered vest – designed for surfers.
“I have a hot back – feel,” he says, pulling his wetsuit down and showing off the Quiksilver vest. “Even if there is a cold southerly I can do this and keep warm. It’s a horrible job but someone’s got to do it.”
