Don’t Sit on the Motorway, Darling
That’s the message from a survey carried out by ShapeNZ - New Zealand Business Council for Sustainable Development - ahead of the council elections to highlight issues that concern residents.
Traffic congestion was the main issue worrying Wellington people, with a concern rate of 77 percent, which greatly surpasses the national average of 59 percent.
We are also the highest in the country when it comes to concerns about ageing infrastructure (73 percent), and finding capital for infrastructure (70 percent).
Crime, safety, and security concerned Wellingtonians less than anywhere else in the country with [only] 60 percent of respondents expressing concern on the issue and we are well below the national average of 80 percent.
We are also the least concerned in the country when it comes to social deprivation worries.
