WELLINGTON Phoenix player Paul Ifill and his partner have launched a T-Shirt design competition in memory of their baby cousin George.
When the two visited the UK earlier this year, George, aged one, was diagnosed with cancer and he died.
During filming of Terry Serepisos’ The Apprentice in March, someone from Cure Kids asked Paul Ifill about becoming an ambassador for the charity, which he agreed to do.
The position took on greater meaning after George’s death.
“Once that all happened we decided it would be nice to do something in George’s memory,” says Ifill’s partner Elle.
The winning creator will get free flights, accommodation, a day’s fun in a corporate box on November 24 at the Phoenix Charity Day, and the design will be displayed on the Westpac Stadium turf at half time and signed by the Phoenix players.
Entry forms can be got from their website, Sunshine Style, set up to raise money for Cure Kids, a New Zealand charity that researches life-threatening childhood illnesses.
All the profits of the design will be donated to the cause.
