NEW Zealanders are searching for love.
Last Thursday, Google released the results of New Zealanders’ most-searched topics online for 2010 and the question ‘What is love?’ ranked second to: ‘What is facebook?’ Perhaps Kiwis should search for love on facebook to answer their questions?
The Christchurch earthquake and Pike River mining disaster ranked highly in the ‘fastest rising’ news search list and top subjects capturing Kiwis’ interest this year were Paul Henry, earthquakes, and Canadian pop singer Justin Bieber, who was the most-searched person overall.
Wellington City Market and master seafood chef Martin Bosley is reportedly NZ’s sixth most Googled NZ celebrity, sandwiched between Christian Cullen and Che Fu, and surrounded by other NZ celebrities: Alison Holst, Dan Carter, Stephen Tindall, Michael Hill, Dave Dobbyn, Brooke Fraser and Michael Jones.
Bosley, whose philosophy of food is: “Eat what’s in season, eat what’s local, eat what’s fresh”, may have to educate Kiwis about recipes. Zucchini was the second most-searched recipe behind the banana, cream and toffee based dessert Banoffee pie, with beef stroganoff coming in third place and peanut butter even making the list.
The most-searched New Zealander is South Canterbury Finance boss Allan Hubbard, followed by former Labour MP Chris Carter and former Breakfast host Paul Henry who appeared on multiple lists including top 10 fastest rising New Zealanders and fastest rising news. The subject of much of Henry’s public controversy, Sheila Dikshit, also appeared in the list of fastest rising people searched for by New Zealanders, alongside Auckland fashion designer Karen Walker.
