Fish around in the Wairarapa
Focusing mainly on game fish, fishermen will be chasing a variety of fish including tuna, kingfish, kahawai, barracuda, gurnard and shark. With the emphasis on sustainable fishing the competition has been refined with new requirements including minimum weights, tagging and the release of fish. This year, a $10,000 prize pool is up for grabs as well as a $1000 cash prize for a broadbill over 50kg. The weigh in is at 4pm – 6pm on Saturday and 3pm – 5pm on Sunday. Martinborough Fair: Held in the picturesque Square, the fair is reportedly the largest of its type in Australasia, with around 480 stalls selling artwork, crafts, clothing, and food. Shop at the Fair in the morning, meet friends and watch jazz and blues in the afternoon when Tess O’Hara performs. 8am-4pm, February 5.
