A moving play

“Quite often your interests have changed since you were five,” she laughs.
Thankfully, when she met up with fellow Clifton Terrace School classmate Kate McIntosh in Brussels, where McIntosh was living, the connection was still intact.
“We really liked each other, and were genuinely interested in each others’ work,” she says.
Randerson, whose first play Fold won her the 1997 Bruce Mason Playwriting Award, and McIntosh, now a successful dance, film and multimedia artist, have since combined their talents to create movement-meets-theatre show Hullapolloi, as part of the Footnote Dance 2011 season of Footnote Forte.
“We’ve worked together before but it’s the first time we’ve collaborated like this, co-directing something. It’s interesting because [the show is] a blend of things; there’s abstract sequences, but the whole thing is driving towards a really concrete resolution.
“It’s become something neither of us would have made on our own.”
