Dancers flying high
Eight dancers from the Auckland based Touch Compass dance company have teamed together with New Zealand choreographers to bring three works exploring such themes as flying and falling, the aesthetics of the classical body and the grotesque, and how apparent limitations can be keys to open doors.
Touch Compass founder, Catherine Chappell, says the group has continued to develop the aerial work which the company pioneered in the late 1990s.
“Our aerial work sees wheelchairs dancers suspended and swinging above the stage as well as on it,” Chappell says. “Touch Compass has the reputation of pioneering ingenious contemporary dance”
