Sock it to Christchurch
Rural Women New Zealand are selling red and black socks, which feature an earthquake shake line, with all proceeds going to the Christchurch Mayoral Fund.
Orders for the New Zealand merino-blend socks have been flooding in from all over the world, with 4,000 pairs being sold in the first five days.
Jackie Edwards from Rural New Zealand says the socks have been manufactured by a family-owned company in Ashburton.
“So we’re supporting Canterbury in a very practical way, as well as donating all proceeds to Christchurch,” Edwards says.
The socks can be purchased from the website www.aftershocks.co.nz and cost $20 a pair plus postage and handling.
