Art of change

THE threatened Wellington Rowing Clubs have organised a fundraising exhibition to raise money for their legal costs.

Thirty-five Wellington artists have submitted more than 100 works depicting the boatsheds, lagoon area and inner harbour before the view is changed by Wellington Waterfront Limited and the Tenths Trusts planned development of a wharenui at Taranaki Street Wharf. The entrance fee (donation) and commission on the sale of the artwork will help the clubs pay for legal fees accumulated when contesting the resource consent needed to maintain vehicle access to the clubs.

Artworks by Alfred Memelinks, Sylvia Meek, Avis Higgs and Shirley Sutton feature.

The Wellington Waterfront Exhibition, The Boatshed, Taranaki Street Wharf, 10am–4pm, April 10 & 11.
